About Nitya Deepam
A quiet, accurate panchangam for people who actually keep a practice — and a lamp that waits for you rather than nagging you.
Why this exists
Most panchangam sites are built for search engines first and devotees second: a wall of tables, four ad units above the fold, and a horoscope section that quietly undermines the whole thing. We wanted the opposite — a page that answers the question you came with in the first screen, reads well on the phone you actually hold, and does not try to sell you a prediction on the way out. Nitya Deepam started as an offline Android app for daily practice; the website is the reading half of the same idea.
What is here
A daily panchangam computed for your own city, with the five limbs and their exact end times, sunrise and sunset, and the muhurtas and kalams the day is planned around. A month calendar with tithis, moon phases and festivals. Festival guides with significance, pooja vidhanam, samagri and slokas. Vratam pages with their rules and every date for the year. A sloka library in six scripts with transliteration and meaning. And a set of reference pages — the twenty-seven nakshatras, the thirty tithis — that we wished existed when we were learning this ourselves.
What is not here, on purpose
No kundali, no matchmaking, no daily prediction. Those are the biggest sections on every competing site and we have deliberately left them out. A panchangam is a description of where the sun and moon are. The moment a site starts telling you what that means for your career, it has stopped being a reference and started being entertainment. We would rather be the thing you trust for a date than the thing you read for a thrill.
How it is made
Every timing is computed from ephemeris formulae rather than copied from another site, using the Lahiri ayanamsa and the standard sunrise convention — the full method is written out on the methodology page, including where we expect to differ from other panchangams and why. Festival dates are validated against published panchangams rather than generated. The site is rebuilt every morning at 04:00 IST.
Who makes it
Nitya Deepam is built and published by RedLapDigital Works, a small independent software studio. It is not backed by an astrology business and does not sell consultations, gemstones or poojas. The site is free, carries no paywall, and shows advertising only on pages with real written content — never beside a sloka, never on the daily panchangam itself.
Talk to us
Corrections are genuinely welcome and we answer them: a wrong timing, a mistranslated line, a festival your family observes on a different day, a city we should add. Write to info@redlapdigital.com. Everything reaches a person.
