Starting a business dates 2026
Opening a shop or venture — Pushya above all, and the labh windows.
For a new venture the classical first choice is Pushya, on the strength of the rule that an act begun under it needs no further muhurta. Hasta suits trade and craft; Uttara Phalguni suits partnerships, through Aryaman's association with agreements; and Ashwini suits anything that should start quickly.
The tithi groups that suit are bhadra, for steady constructive work, and jaya, for anything competitive. Nanda tithis suit an opening as a celebration. The rikta tithis and amavasya are avoided, as is Vishti karana.
Within the day, the Labh and Amrit choghadiya windows are the ones traditionally chosen for the first transaction, and rahu kalam is avoided for it.

Choosing within the day
Choose a date below, then place the opening — and specifically the first sale or first transaction — in a Labh or Amrit choghadiya window, or in abhijit muhurta.
Many businesses instead open on Akshaya Tritiya, Dhanteras or Vijayadashami regardless of the weekday, on the strength of the day itself. All three are considered to need no further muhurta.
Common questions
Which nakshatra is best for starting a business?
Pushya, which classical texts hold needs no further muhurta. Hasta for craft and trade, Uttara Phalguni for partnerships, and Ashwini for a quick start.
Are there days that are auspicious regardless of the nakshatra?
Akshaya Tritiya, Dhanteras and Vijayadashami are all treated as self-sufficient for beginning a venture, and many businesses open on them for that reason.
What time of day should a shop open?
In a Labh or Amrit choghadiya window, or in abhijit muhurta, and outside rahu kalam. All of these depend on sunrise at your location.
